Three Month On, Protest By NESCO Employees Continues Against TATA Power

More than 700 employees of the erstwhile power distribution company, NESCO which has now been acquired by the TATA Power, continue protest for over a month demanding regularisation of their jobs .The protest by more than 700 employees of the erstwhile power distribution company, NESCO which has now been acquired by the TATA Power, continues unabated for over a month demanding regularisation of their jobs.

The protest by more than 700 employees of the erstwhile power distribution company, NESCO which has now been acquired by the TATA Power, continues unabated for over a month demanding regularisation of their jobs.They have been sitting on dharna in front of the Head office at Balasore since Three month.The protesters alleged that TATA Power has been harassing the contractual employees by not regularising their jobs as per the agreement. Instead, it recruited new employees under its pay role before making jobs of the existing contractual employees as regular.

It is pertinent to mention here that Tata Power took over the management and operations of NESCO (North Eastern Electricity Supply Company of Odisha) upon completion of the sale process on April 1, 2021.

TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL) is responsible for the distribution and retail supply of electricity in five circles of NESCO covering close to 2 million consumers with annual input energy of 5450 MUs in Balasore, Bhadrak, Baripada, Jajpur and Keonjhar districts
